Erasing to uncover

Defacing is born with a simple poetic idea, to reimagine the past in order to have a future. As impossible as it may seem, it seemed feasible to me. Living in the past without enjoying the present is a characteristic of many emigrants, and I wanted to change this aspect of the condition of my family, my people and all those who are in this emotional limbo. It seemed normal to me when I started this project that by reconstructing an iconographic image of the past, we can potentially change the past or perception of it and then build another future from this new landmark. Inviting viewers to paint over my drawings is an act that marks the present to redefine the future.
